Allright people, here's what I was talking about last week: The New-York based groovy photographer behind "The Photodiarist" let me interview her! So here's an exclusive insight in the world's future Sartorialist...

First of all, how would you describe your photography aesthetic?

I feel most comfortable and in my "zone" as a street photographer. I take photos of whatever interests me in that moment. I never go out with a plan or a preconceived idea about the kind of photos that I want to take. Sometimes I come home with 400 shots, and at other times, 10. I rely quite a bit on my feelings (and less on rules) when taking a picture, but I do ask myself "why" and "what" during the course of taking and processing photos. "Why do I want to capture this moment and what about it do I want to portray?" I like to experiment, so I do end up deleting a ton of shots that just don't work. But better to delete than to never explore. I prefer black and white to color but I am trying to get back into color photography a bit more!

Do you look up/get inspired by any known streetstyle photographer out there?

I LOVE the streetstyle photography and writings of Garance Dore. And who doesn't enjoy the Sartorialist, Altamira and Jak & Jil. Another cool streetstyle blog that I just found is Swagger360. For pure street photography (not so much street style), I like Markus Hartel. But I am inspired by the masters of photo-journalism -- Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Dorothy Lange and Robert Frank.

What do you adore about NYC?

The diversity of its people, places and things to do; the energy; the honesty, drive and creativity of New Yorkers; my apartment, the shopping and the fact that I can get something great to eat at any time of the day or night.

Describe inspiration in 3 words...

Emotion. Travel. The Story.

What makes you smile?

Being around the people I love and whose company I enjoy, the start of the weekend or a vacation and almost every post written by Garance Dore.

If I take a look inside your bag, what will I find?

Definitely a camera. Often, a book. Scarlett Empress lipstick by Nars. My new Oliver Peoples sunglasses. My wallet. An i-phone.

Where is the best place to take pictures in NYC?

Without a doubt, its parks. My favorites: union Square, Washington Square Park, Central Park and Bryant Park.

Favourite movie so far?

The Godfather, Parts I and II. I never tire of watching those movies.

If you could be in any other place right now, where would you be and with whom?

Paris or Marrakech with my best friends.

Any future projects for your blog?

To get out of my Borough (Manhattan) more and to explore other areas of the city!

Esta é indubitavelmente a melhor colecção de Yigal Azrouël. Ele conseguiu criar uma "vibe" exótica e oriental, sem perder a sua típica atmosfera urbana. Ao mesmo tempo, Yigal incorporou com sucesso um turbante em cada look sem cair no rídiculo. O que eu mais gostei foram:

A inovação do formato das roupas
O TURBANTE!

Translation: This is, without any doubt, Yigal Azrouël's best collection. He managed to create a deeply exotic vibe, without loosing his quintessential urban atmosphere and at the same time, he sucessfully incorporated a turban in each look without making them look ridiculous. What I loved the most were:

The way he beautifully draped jersey
Its innovative shapes
THE TURBANT!

Desde há algum tempo que tenho andado a escrever uma lista de coisas que tenho que fazer antes de morrer. Como ainda não tenho permissão/dinheiro/idade suficiente para fazer uma viagem espiritual à Índia e muito menos para pilotar um helicópetro, criar o meu próprio blog foi indubitavelmente a melhor escolha para começar...

Infelizmente, neste caso não se trata de um problema da escrita para a acção mas sim da acção para a escrita. Como é que vai ser o meu primeiro post? Começo por descrever quem sou ou simplesmente por dizer do que é que o blog se trata? Por sua vez essa pergunta leva a: qual é que vai ser o tema do meu blog?!?

Sinceramente, nem sei... Mas o que interessa é que um dia hei-de descobrir...
